Priority date nvc

Quick question, does NVC use the priority dates when scheduling interviews also? Just curious. On mar 5th a bunch of Nigerians got interview dates assigned. I had the earliest case complete date among the group but the newest I PD. The interview date was assigned in order of the PD from what we could all see.

I think if there are quite a number of people frm a country needing to be given dates at one time, it could be in that order but subsequent individual case completes assigned much later may get a date even earlier than those people. I say that since another Nigerian who had a CC weeks after me just get her date and the interview is before mine.

Like I saidit is all just guess work on our part. Sept 11, NOA2 - took 19 days to get case number. I already know what? I posted on another about how busy they arewasnt related to if they schedule interviews by priority date. Reread my question. I called and asked this question and guess what? Your guess was right! NVC will push for your case to receive an interview date first then mine. Thats good to know!

Now I'm hoping for a case complete and hopefully a faster interview since our pd is may 4th. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. The Visa Bulletin provides the most recent date for when a visa number is available for the different categories and countries for family-sponsored, employment-based and diversity lottery visas.

A visa must be available before you can take one of the final steps in the process of becoming a lawful permanent resident. Because more prospective immigrants want lawful permanent residency than the limited numbers of immigrant visas allow, not everyone can immediately get an immigrant visa. How long you must wait depends on your priority date, preference category, and the country to which the visa will be charged. A visa is available to you when your priority date is earlier than the cut-off date shown for your preference category and country of chargeability in the applicable chart in the Visa Bulletin, as described above in the Acceptance of Adjustment of Status Applications section.

How to Read the Visa Bulletin

For example, if the Visa Bulletin shows a date of 15DEC07 for China in the Family 1st preference category F1visas are currently available for immigrants who have a priority date earlier than Dec.

Sometimes the demand for immigrant visas is less than the supply in a particular immigrant visa preference category and country of chargeability. Sometimes, a priority date that is current one month will not be current the next month, or the cut-off date will move backwards to an earlier date. This is called visa retrogressionwhich occurs when more people apply for a visa in a particular category than there are visas available for that month.

Visa retrogression generally occurs when the annual limit for a category or country has been exhausted or is expected to run out soon. When the new fiscal year begins on October 1, a new supply of visa numbers becomes available. Usually, but not always, the new supply returns the cut-off dates to where they were before retrogression.

The cap for this category is 65, green cards per year. There are two reasons that this category moves the fastest. First of all, it has the largest quota, at 87, green cards. So the country of origin for a spouse seeking a green card is much less important than for a green card applicant in another category.

There is no cap on the number of green cards available for immediate relatives of U. Since there is no annual limit, there is no backlog, no line to wait in, and nothing to see in the visa bulletin. Spouses of U. These green card applications are ready for approval right now. For applicants who intend to work in the United States or travel outside the United States while waiting for their green card applications to be processed, these additional benefits can be invaluable.

This means that practically speaking, there are separate backlogs and green card lines for each of these four countries, which also vary by green card category. Remember, however, that the F2A category is special?
